THIS, A LITTLE BIT OF A BREATH, I SHOULD SAY. NOT A BREAK. BUT ON THIS FIRST ALERT WEATHER ALERT DAY. FINALLY SEEING SOME STORMS CLEAR RIGHT HERE IN THE METRO. BUT I KNOW OTHER COMMUNITIES ARE STILL AT RISK. YEAH, THAT’S RIGHT, DEFINITELY AROUND THE KANSAS CITY AREA, WE ARE SEEING THINGS REALLY QUIETING DOWN. SO SOME GOOD NEWS THERE. I DO WANT TO SHOW YOU BEHIND ME THIS LARGE SYSTEM HERE. LOOK AT THIS. THAT COLD FRONT REALLY IS WHAT HELPED FIRE OFF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS IN THAT LINE THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT GAVE US THAT VERY BIG WIND THREAT. NOW, AS WE ZOOM ON IN HERE, THIS IS WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT WITH OUR STORM WIND. I DO WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS IS JUST OUTSIDE OF THE KANSAS CITY AREA AND OUR VIEWING AREA, BUT HEADING TOWARDS COLUMBIA, THERE IS A CONFIRMED TORNADO SPECIFICALLY AROUND THE BOONVILLE AREA. SO THAT IS RIGHT ALONG I-70. MAYBE, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE AROUND THIS AREA, OR MAYBE YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL EASTWARD ON I-70 PRETTY SOON HERE. JUST A HEADS UP. WE DO HAVE THAT CONFIRMED TORNADO. WE’LL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON THAT. BUT AGAIN, AROUND THE KANSAS CITY AREA, JUST SOME LINGERING SHOWERS. MOST OF THIS MOISTURE IS GOING TO PRESS OUT OF HERE AS WE HEAD PAST 10:00 THIS MORNING. AND EVEN WITH IT AS WE HEAD INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS, MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF SOME INCREASING SUNSHINE, SOME OF THOSE CLOUDS MOVING OUT WITH IT, WE’RE GOING TO CALL IT PARTLY CLOUDY AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS WITH DRYING CONDITIONS. SO THAT ALERT DAY WAS THANKS TO THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY THIS MORNING. AS THOSE STORMS MOVE THROUGH. AS FOR TEMPERATURES, SOME OF US COOL DOWN WITH THAT RAIN. OTHERS ARE PRETTY WARM. STILL AT 65. IN SEDALIA, 62 BUTLER 57 OTTAWA 52. IN ATCHISON, 54 DEGREES IN CAMERON. SO MANY OF US IN THE 50S RIGHT NOW. BUT AS WE LOOK AHEAD TO THAT 12 HOUR FORECAST, WE ARE EXPECTING TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB AS THEY NORMALLY WOULD INTO THE AFTERNOON. MANY OF US, AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THOSE EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS, REACHING THE UPPER 60S. THAT’S WHAT WE’RE THINKING IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA WITH, AGAIN, THAT INCREASING SUNSHINE. STILL A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD, THOUGH. PARTLY CLOUDY, NOT COMPLETELY CLEAR TODAY. ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THE WIND THAT’S GOING TO STAY A LITTLE BIT ON THE BREEZY SIDE. THE OCCASIONAL GUSTS AROUND 30 TO 40MPH. SO STAYING BREEZY TODAY, BUT REALLY QUIETING DOWN, AT LEAST WHEN IT COMES TO THOSE CLEARING AND CALMER SKIES. AS WE LOOK AHEAD AT TEMPERATURES THE NEXT FEW DAYS. ENJOY THE 60S TODAY BECAUSE LOOK AT THIS. WE DO DROP IN THE COMING DAYS. THE BIGGEST DROP THAT WILL BE ON SATURDAY, AS OUR HIGH DIPS DOWN TO 51. SO HERE’S A LOOK AT THE NINE DAY FORECAST ACROSS THE AREA. AGAIN, THAT ALERT DAY IS REALLY AN ALERT MORNING FOR TODAY. WE’LL EVENTUALLY REACH 68 DEGREES WITH THAT WIND CONTINUING AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT THE NEXT FEW DAYS, OUR RAIN CHANCES CONTINUE. WE’RE KEEPING AN EYE ON FRIDAY. WE DID GO AHEAD AND MAKE THAT AN IMPACT DAY AS WE HAVE THE CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. EVEN ON SATURDAY. WINDY CONDITIONS WITH SHOWERS AND MAYBE EVEN SOME THUNDERSTORMS. SO THAT’S REALLY GOING TO HELP. OF COURSE, KEEP THOSE TEMPERATURES ON THE COOL SIDE WITH HIGHS IN THE 50S, OVERNIGHT LOWS, STAYING IN THE 40S AT LEAST INTO SATURDAY MORNING. LOOK WHAT HAPPENS BY SUNDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES START TO DROP IN THE MORNING. LOOK AT THIS 32 MONDAY MORNING WE’RE AT 33 DEGREES TUESDAY. SO WITH THAT SAID, IN THE MORNING WE ARE CONCERNED EARLY IN THE WEEK FOR A FROST AND FREEZE. SO HEADS UP GARDENERS, WE HAVE ALL THAT RAIN IN THE FORECAST, WHICH IS GREAT NEWS, BUT MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT THOSE PLANTS OUTSIDE EARLY MONDAY AND TUE
