Saratoga County resident Brandon Moore was shot multiple times after he emerged from his unit at the Ellsworth Apartments on Route 9 in Malta and pointed a handgun at police, according to the New York Attorney General’s Office.

Troopers and sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute at an apartment at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10. When they arrived, they encountered a woman who was bleeding and leaving the apartment.

A short time later, Moore exited the unit armed with what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at police, the AG’s office said. Troopers and deputies then opened fire, killing the man. The weapon was later determined to be a pellet gun.

Two troopers suffered minor injuries in the ordeal, according to New York State Police. The agency did not elaborate on the nature of their wounds.

The New York Attorney General’s Office is investigating the shooting, as is standard procedure any time a police officer may have caused a person’s death.

Thursday's shooting came just one day after a gunman armed with a rifle was shot and killed by troopers after he opened fire on the New York State Police barracks in Malta, as Daily Voice reported. No troopers were injured in that shooting.

Additional details about Moore's life were not immediately available. Loves ones are invited to share a statement and/or photos by emailing mmashburn@daiyvoice.com.
