The Conservation and Environment Protection Authority issued two environmental permits to Papua LNG project in Port Moresby yesterday, marking significant mile stone for the multi-million company in Papua New Guinea.
These permits will pave the way forward for the other process of the project to commence.
CEPA managing director Jude Tukuliya expressed gratitude to the government for trusting him to lead the organization and deliver this project.
“I have made it my priority to deliver this project under the trying times and we have delivered this project within the time given,” he said.
The Papua LNG Project has issued two Environmental Permits, one for the Upstream and one for the Downstream.
Mr.Tukuliya emphasized that the environment permit grants the permission to the mining company to conduct mining activities in the oil, gas and petroleum sector.
“To carry out mining activities you have to comply with the Environmental Act and these permits mark the beginning of the work,” he said.
The Papua LNG project is a significant project for the country and the Government of Papua New Guinea is committed to ensuring the project starts soon.
CEPA assured the country that they will diligently adhere to the legal requirements outlined in the Environment Act 2000 are adhered to, without compromising the integrity of the environmental impact assessment process.
