A state of emergency was declared by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to aid recovery efforts due to ice storm damage in northern Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the State Emergency Operations Center have mobilized several departments, including the National Guard, to assist with public safety and clearing roads. The Forest Resources Division is coordinating a response plan that includes spring tree planting, timber sales, salvage operations, and wildfire response. The FRD is providing resources for road and trail clearing as access to many sites and trails remain blocked.
